I've made a pretty big decision. I've decided to make art my life. My whole life. As in my career, my hobby, my passion. I haven't gone to art school yet but it's on my horizon. Actually, I have an economics degree. And for the five years (yes, five) it took me to get that degree, art was my stress-reliever and my distraction. But it was whispering in my ear that whole time, pulling me in to its snare, and it's finally trapped me.
Art is my life.
Since I've come to this realization (which happened after a long period of artistic stagnation followed by a big life change) I've made it my mission to get better at art. And I think, just maybe, I'm on the right track.
This is one year of improvement. One year. Of mostly self-guided improvement. Check out the signature tags- 2014 to 2015.
And already I can see aspects of the new one that need improvement, the areas I need to work on.
But something's changed and I can feel it. I am more serious about art. I study it more intently. I practice it with purpose. I draw and paint as much as I can. A huge part of my improvement had been from watching tutorials on Digital Tutors. Seriously, the subscription is worth every penny.
I'm excited to see where I'll be in one more year. Heck, I'm excited to see where I'll be next month. And mostly, I'm excited that art is finally taking center stage of my life. It's about damn time.

Profile Revamp
I am redoing my entire DA profile in order to mirror the organization scheme used on my new Facebook Artist's Page: https://www.facebook.com/sabroderillustration
I encourage you to follow me on Facebook because I will be better at updating there! But I'll try to get around to my other social media site too, I promise.
Time to Get Serious
I have finally found a critique partner and I really think this is exactly what my art needed. It helps to have a fresh set of eyes on my art, noticing things that I, as an artist intimately connected with the piece, may have overlooked.
It's time to get serious with my art.
If I'm going to make art my life (see previous journal) then I have to start taking the necessary steps towards drastic improvement that will bring my level up to where it needs to be to be creating professionally. A critique partner is one step on my road to that place.
I usually don't rework my art. Once I'm finished a piece I feel like I'm FINISHED. Maybe a year or
